What is an IP-CCV?

IP-CCV (Individual Pushing Caisson Carrier Vehicle) is a vehicle developed to help carry and support constructing heavy structures and buildings in production yards. It moves by its own designated transfer steel track where each IP-CCV can carry up to 250 tons. 

While the original purpose of the IP-CCV was to move large concrete caisson weighing up to 7000 tons, it can be utilized in several other ways by combining it with different configurations for heavy loads; bridge sections for example. It’s a versatile solution providing an easy and efficient way to construct large structures.

The Bygging-Uddemann IP-CCV

How does it work?

The Bygging-Uddemann IP-CCV is capable of both lifting and pushing heavy construction goods and materials in a secure and efficient manner.


The lifting capabilities of an IP-CCV is provided by using two hydraulic lifting jacks that lie on a base plate of a sliding foot. Each jack has a capacity of 125 tons. They communicate in a common hydraulic system for load equalization. Each jack has a ball and sock on top to allow for slight angle deviations from an uneven underside of a load. On top of each jack there’s also an inverted pyramid to reduce the pressure on the bottom of the lifted object.


The twin-cylinder pushing jack has a grip head with wedge shaped grip jaws that’s gripping the side of the sliding steel track. The jack itself pushes the IP-CCV forward with 500 mm strokes. The total capacity of its pushing functionality is 25 tons. 

The average speed for caisson transfer is estimated to be 12 mph, with a maximum of 25 mph. For other applications other than caisson transfer, the speed is dependent on the pump capacity (litre/minute) and the number of IP-CCV units being used.
