Roof Lifting

Lifting roof structures on buildings with a low roof can transform them into modern, high-clearance structures for warehouses, storage, manufacturing, or distribution facilities.

Efficient roof lifting techniques for heightening ceilings

A roof lift is a cost-effective and quick method to raise the roof for existing properties with ceiling heights that are obsolete or untenable. In a matter of hours, an industrial building can reach your desired ceiling height.

Bygging-Uddemann uses hydraulically-powered roof-raising jacks to lift the roof, allowing for the installation of additional beams, walls, and other structural elements to the building. Contact us for more details about our roof-raising services.

Why lift your roof?

Lifting your roof can provide a transformative upgrade to your existing building, making it more functional and modern without the need for a complete rebuild. Here’s why opting for a roof lift with Bygging-Uddemann might be the perfect solution for your property:

Maximize your space efficiently

If your building’s current ceiling height is limiting your operations, a roof lift can quickly remedy that. Whether you’re looking to accommodate larger storage areas, integrate new manufacturing processes, or increase distribution capacity, lifting your roof is a cost-effective solution. It offers a substantial increase in usable space, aligning with the demands of modern industry without the high costs and lengthy timeline associated with new construction.

Cost-effective solution

Roof lifting is not only more affordable compared to building new structures but also offers significant financial benefits. The project can be completed for as little as 25% of the cost of new construction. This cost efficiency makes it an attractive option for businesses looking to expand their facilities on a budget.

Reduce disruption

One of the key advantages of lifting your roof is minimal disruption to your business operations. Unlike new construction, which often requires vacating the premises, roof lifting can be accomplished while the building remains in use. This means reduced downtime and a more seamless transition to enhanced facility capabilities.

Simplify compliance and regulations

By opting for a roof lift, you can bypass many of the complex regulations, zoning restrictions, and additional taxes typically associated with new construction. This streamlined approach reduces the bureaucratic burden and expedites the overall project process.

Preserve existing footprint

A roof lift allows you to increase your building’s capacity without the need for additional real estate. You maintain your existing footprint while gaining the vertical space needed to meet your operational requirements, making it a practical and resourceful expansion strategy.

The roof-lifting process

At Bygging-Uddemann we take great pride in our ability to perform roof lifts using our own specially manufactured units designed and constructed by our heavy lifting experts. Our hydraulic rod climbers can be extended to nearly any reasonable height. A traditional roof-lifiting process using hydraulic jacks looks as follows:

  1. Gutting the building to the bare skeleton. Only temporary crib posts will support the roof structure during the lifting process. The crib posts are welded to the ceiling and anchored to the floor to be able to support a wide variety of roof sizes and types.
  2. A temporary support system is installed to act as a shoulder for the roof. Afterward, the columns are cut to separate the roof from the walls in preparation for the initial separation.
  3. Each post is pushed up with the power of our hydraulic jacks to make room for new sections to be added at the bottom as the lifting progresses. The lift is controlled using a synchronization system that measures the lifting process, and the jacks are carefully monitored to ensure safety and accuracy.
  4. New beams are installed once the roof has reached the desired height, and the hydraulic jacks are removed.
  5. New walls and other structural elements, for example, fixtures such as sprinklers and lightning, are installed, after which the building is ready for occupation.
