YAVUZ SULTAN SELİM BRIDGE / 3rd BOSPHORUS BRIDGE, Istanbul, Turkey (Outstanding)

YAVUZ SULTAN SELİM BRIDGE / 3rd BOSPHORUS BRIDGE, Istanbul, Turkey

The A-shaped pylons have legs that lean towards each other and are tapered at the same time. To secure the tolerances of the construction, the slipform was controlled with an internal guide tower that was continuously secured against the cast concrete.

Realized in collaboration with IC İçtaş Construction Industry, Astaldi S.P.A and Hyundai E&C, the 3rd Bosphorus Bridge is a pioneering project in many respects.

– The world’s longest towered suspension bridge with its 322 meter height

– The world’s largest suspension bridge with its 59 meter width

– The world’s longest railway suspension bridge with its 1,408 meters long

For our part, the scope of the project consisted of slipforming the inclined and tapering bridge piers (up to 207m).
